Oh, also I forgot to tell you that I was thinking of taking your advice and purchasing a broad market ETF. I have about another $1,000 I can invest into that particular venture. I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of some well trusted ETFs that will turn that $1,000 into more money. Any links and info would be GREATLY appreciated!

I do not think it is laughable to be investing regardless of what you are able to put into it. I would say that purchasing individual equities with under 1000 in each may not be the most wise choice with your money. Comissions alone are very expensive. In my opinion you should be putting your money into a broad market ETF or MF until you have sufficient funds to invest more heavily into individual stocks. For smaller amounts of money you may want to look at a high yielding savings account, i like ING Direct. Even on a small income level if you can sock away say 50-100 a month, that will grow and you wont feel the pain of not having those funds if you do automatic withdraw. Just my .02.

MY FRIEND! I just wanted you to know that I took your advice and opened an online savings account at FNBO Direct. They are rated among the best regarding high yield online savings accounts, and have a consistent 3.4 to 3.5% annual rate. I started with a $2,000 deposit which I will not even be TOUCHING. I have no reason to touch it. Also, I will be adding between $100 and $200 a month to the account, possibly even more. I currently have a Bank Of America account which is absolutely USELESS as far as accruing yield. I have automatic deposit on there, so all my paycheck gets dumped in there. I'm just thinking, with the FNBO account with $2,000 in there, plus another say $200 a month dumped in there, I will be earning somewhere around $2,000 extra in the FIRST year in that account, plus the amount goes UP every year as I dump more money into it. That is DEFINITELY a great way to earn extra money on my savings. MAN, I can't BELIEVE that I've been letting my money WASTE AWAY all this time in my B of A account! If I joined FNBO even three years ago, I'd have about $10,000 - $15,000 EXTRA in that account by now. Man, thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!
