New at this, can't take major risk but want to play a little. Cramer says to start with 4 stocks? Is this right? What should the risk ratio be? I am looking at WMI, GRMN, CSCO, BEAS, BAC & NYX or COF or MA. (any thoughts on the last 3) Are these too many to start? Only 3-4K to start with. Help please!8O 8O

I'd recommend 'paper trading' for December, you might want to enter the December simulator and get the hang of the market before using real money. You can also see what the others in the contest are trading and their trading styles.

Given the amount of money you are starting with, 'cheap' stocks are going to be tempting, but are generally not recommended for new traders.

Good luck, and welcome.

My alchohol consumption has gone down to almost zero since I quit smoking almost a year ago, so I'll take psychological disorders for a $1000 Alex.

Sorry to hijack your thread TonyC, but hopefully by bumping you to the top your question will get more answers.
