Stock Picking Challenge

Pick the highest percentage mover and win a free hardcover copy of Conquer the Crash!

Pick any stock that trades in the US market that closed at $2.00 or over with at least 100,000 share volume as of the Friday close before the contest.

Your entry price will be the market open price on Monday morning.

Entries for following week's challenge opens at Friday's market close - 4:00 pm EST - and closes at 9:00 am EST Monday.

A natural gas pipeline owned by El Paso Corp. outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming, exploded on Saturday after it was cut by a bulldozer, killing the driver

PCW Big move up last monday then a 50% retracement thurs and fri, this morning Li ka shing announced he'll buy 1/2 of his sons 23% in the company. Along with Francis Leung and Telefonica SA also buying I'll follow the smart money.

NXG. Seems to have found a nice base around 3.10 and I think inflation worries will start to spike into the coming months as the economy gets depressed but employment and wages climb, and gold will become all shiny again. Look for a run to at least 3.50 soon but could break that level. (Not necerssarily this week.)

Forgot about that; efut short simply because the odds are that it can't sustain that kind of move, being an ipo I would expect some profit taking on such a monster move. May be short-lived and just fill the gaps before moving back up. Anyhow, that's the rationale behind my pick.

I agree with the logic, if you could pick a price it might give you a better shot, I think it may go to $20.50 or so before the retracement, I set my sells at 20.50 if it goes up and stop sell at 20. I'll also switch to a short position at those levels.

well geesh, i guess my +33% last week just wasnt good enough, eh? and not the first, or second time ive had an over 25% gainer and not won (we have some good pickers on this board) so i am checking out the efut, and an idea ive had thanks to chinaman kinda crystalized about small floats. i wanted a small float, in an emerging market, with decent financials (ROI>.05) and decent growth (PEG<1.1) amazing but all i got back was a freaking airline. i never invest in ideas generated through strictly technical considerations (i havta have a fundie/ news type catalyst) and would never put money in any airline. all that said, i still like tam more than the 5-6 (mainly tech) companies generated by my usual screen for this competition.

as a side note, i think EFUT shorts are toast. will be interesting to watch, and i have yet to hold an actual position in efut. JOBS was an interesting china play from my screens- no position.
