View Full Version : Hey Republicans!
I don't mean to stir up any trouble, but I have been seeing some pretty viscious GOP ads that are nothing more than pure mudslinging trash. I realize, I probably only read the "liberal news."
So I was wondering if you folks could help me out. I haven't been able to find any Democratic ads that are nearly as viscious as the worst GOP ads. I'm sure they exist in some form, so I was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
just for reference sake,

The Dems don't need attack ads to lose their campaigns. They have Kerry sticking his big foot in his big soup-cooler.
Nice move to berate the troops on film, then boldly resist and say "I'm not apologizing to anyone", then claimit was a botched joke at the Bush administration. By the way, Kerry finally apologized, but it was in an e-mail or website release -- that way Kerry's big mouth won't get him in trouble again, and he can just release the words dreamed up by his spin team.
Oh, and Kerry won 3 purple hearts. We haven't heard that one in a while.
What a great guy, that Kerry!

Just like he is fighting over an imaginary cache of weapons in Iraq, his party attacks Kerry not for what he said but over how he misspoke. But then, Bush is the great decider. Never mind that his VP shoots his friends in the face, or that Bush can't pronounce half the words in the English language, or that over 2000 US soldiers have died or 600,000 Iraq citizens have been killed, let's keep fighting in Iraq because..... Kerry thinks the soldiers are stupid! Now, THERE'S A GOOD REASON TO STAY IN IRAQ!
I think we're going to see the biggest change of government in recent history, and this bankrupt, moronic, and vile group in charge of lying to the American people are impeached for their actions.
America has become a malignant tumour, invading other countries to stuff their poisonous hamburgers into other cultures mouths in order to make profits. And these cowards in Washington, who between them have never spent a day in the armed forces, attack anyone who dares question their idiotic mission.

What exactly do detractors of current national security policy think would happen if we packed up every soldier, sailor, airman and marine and left Iraq today? Do you really believe that Iraq and the Middle East as a region would suddenly be friends and live happily ever after? That simply cannot be what people believe will happen- they simply cannot be that naive.
As a serviceman myself, I can sure say that I don't want to get deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other place that is away from home, my wife, and my son. However, we need to be mindful of history and see what happens when one nation abondons another altogether.
Look at Korea. In 1949 we pulled all of our troops out of the area after establishing the 38th parallel at the end of WWII. What happens next? The North Koreans (backed by the USSR) roll into South Korea in June 1950 across the 38th parallel and by September 1950 owned nearly all of the South Korean penninsula. We bought ourselves a war that lasted until the cease-fire of July 1953--and a hot stalemate that has lasted through to today.
Throw stones at how inarticulate the commander in chief is, throw stones at crummy intel about WMDs in Iraq, throw stones at a peacekeeping plan that has too few military to effectively parole the streets. Fine, that's our right as American citizens.
We only have the here and now to deal with, but we can learn from history. There are lots of non-state actors (organizations that feel a stong nationalistic unity without actually being a separate geographic country e.g. Taliban, Al Qaeda, etc), who are just biding their time and waiting for US public support to wane. If that happens and the US leaves before the Iraqi army is able to defend themselves, those non-state actors will roll into this failed state and have a huge area to plot, plan, train, and prepare for their next offensive attack on the West. They will win the war without having to do anything except launch a bunch of improvised explosives to exact causualties and make the news each night and turn public support sour. That would be an inexpensive victory for them, and would leave us vulnerable to the next damaging terrorist attack on American soil.
We aren't staying in Iraq because Kerry is stupid. We are staying there to prevent a growing Democracy from being wiped out before it has the strength to survive on it's own.
People are measured by what they say, by what they do. It doesn't matter whether Kerry really meant to launch a joke about the Administration. If you play the recording and listen to what he said, it was an obvious crack that the troops in Iraq a stupid. What is more stupid was that Kerry didn't diffuse the situation by stepping up to the plate and apologizing right away and saying "I screwed up". We wouldn't be talking about it anymore if that happened. As it is, Kerry was defiant, and hurt his party. That's really stupid!

OK, so a person was going to vote Democratic, because like most Americans, they realize how idiotic this war in Iraq is. Suddenly, Kerry has become insane, and has decided that US soldiers are uneducated. Now they are going to vote for your Good Old Boys! Talk about desperate!
Where do we have a democracy forced upon people by the barrels of guns? How does bullying people around make America safer? The idea that you can torture, force, and rape people into your friends is an idea that was discounted a long time ago.
Do you really think the way to stop attacks on the US is to patrol the entire world with soldiers blowing people up that don't like you?

firstly spanky, thank you for serving. secondly, congrats for being an articulate, historically accurate R (too few on this board) i think you nailed it though- we must view our current situation in iraq seperately from our support of the current administration. they are not mutually inclusive. i can only hope that all necessary steps are being taken to get iraq ready for the eventual day us troops come home, and as quickly as possible. unfortunately i consider the entire current executive branch to be substandard administrators of this process, and question not only their ability, but personal character. in such a difficult situation, i would rather see the majority leadership act to bring the nation together, and in fact have seen just the opposite. the very fact that one party is wholely dominate in policy places the burden of outreach, of unity, squarely on that party. instead mr bush is more interested in taking a bad line out of context. his stump speaches are still "us" vs "them" and thats not even talking about the radical muslims. jmo, and remember no american wishes harm to our servicemen, perhaps we libs just have a different idea of how to protect them. again, imo, no one who has seen battle hungers for war.

The worst smear campaign has been done by the Democrats against Michael Steele running for Senator in Maryland. Can you believe they stole his credit report? They've thrown Oreo cookies at his speaking appearances. Yet the mass media doesn't even talk about it. Can you imagine the media coverage if the Republicans had stolen a credit report from a Democratic black politician?
I hope Steele wins. The blacks in Maryland deserve better than what they are getting from the Democratic Party.

Will, those ads were hilarious. I wish we had that material where I reside.
But in all seriousness, does anyone know anything positive about any of those running for office this midterm election? All I hear on both sides is how much of a scumbag the other guy is.
The sad thing is, I don't put the blame on the politicians. I still think their a$$#@!es but they do what we buy in to. If it didn't work, as Bill Maher said, they wouldn't run it.
We as their constituents need to demand more of our officials. This is just one reason why I am voting independent. So what if I "throw my vote away" at least I'll have a clean conscience.
