Optimism leads to softer dollar in forex trading General optimism about Europe and the United States is leading to a lower dollar (http://www.thestreet.com/story/11351436/1/dollar-softens-as-euro-news-improves.html?cm_ven=RSSFeed) in forex trading on the currency market today. Indeed, the US dollar is being passed over as forex traders look for yields — not for safe haven.
Good news out of Germany is helping the entire eurozone, and giving the euro a boost (http://forex.gftforex.com/public/blog/item/272295). On top of that, housing starts data for November is providing optimism for the US economic recovery, and leading to a lower dollar in forex trading.
For now, we are likely to see risk appetite rising. Stocks are gaining, and high beta currencies are in favor. Of course, all of this could change quickly at the first sign of bad news, but for now optimism is driving the currency market.
