Upgrading the forum software and I need to know if you see any difference or strange behavior.

All the skins/styles are gone though. intentional?

The upgrade is taking longer than expected and won't be completed until tonight. I have to replace all the skins and styles and will replace them all over the next few days. They are turned off until then, as they won't work without modifications. Sorry about this, but there will be some new features and better performance that will make it all worth the disruption.

The forum will be offline overnight (after 12 midnight) tonight for about 2 hours.

You can go over to http://www.onlinetradersforum.com and start a thread there. It is an up-and-coming forum that will soon be hot!

Well, we have survived the upgrade, so far. You may notice some weirdness as I try to update the skin or template to reflect the changes, such as multiple quotes in a reply.

What does the multi quote do?

Let's say you want to quote post A and post C and post F you just click on the multi-quote icon for each one and then click on quote and each of those quotes will be stacked up in your reply.

I like the functionality of this message board a lot. I appreciate that you dropped the idea of typing in a computer generated code whenever a user conducts a search. That was quite tedious and am happy you dropped it.

I am not fond of the new format for corrections made immediately to posts. Now, it seems that when I enter a correction to a posted message, it is added as a correction tacked onto the original post, but the original post remains the same. In the past, I would have several minutes to edit the post that went on the forum.

Nothing changed regarding the editing of posts. You have 5 minutes to edit your posts, and after that you can't - you can always PM or email me and I will make the change for you. There is a field to indicate info about your edit. You don't have to fill that in. Let me know if you have seen something else, maybe I missed it.

I also don't know what you mean by computer generated search code. Are you sure you're talking about this forum?

I was not up on the lingo at the time I wrote that post. I guess you call it image identification.

OK, now I know what you mean. I just turned it off, I didn't realize it was on. I will turn it back on if I see a lot of automated or robotic searches, which can slow down the forum. The reason you thought it was already off was because it is only for users not registered and logged in, so you must have tried searching without being logged in. Thanks for the feedback.

They add too much clutter imo, I like to read other posters threads, I already have more news sources/articles than I really have time to read. Although some may find them useful, I didn't see too many views on them. Perhaps a poll would be a better way to determine their usefullness.

Hey, give it a day or two! I'll add a poll in a new thread but we are just getting this up and running. The news thread is read only, so you can't post there. It's an experiment, and you might find it more useful during market hours, as it's RSS real-time articles posting.

All our tests indicate faster performance, several pages that used to reload with a complete refresh now update automatically without a refresh (like quick reply) but I might have to upgrade the server if the traffic keeps increassing.

yep, I agree I'll find my own news sources I don't need someone pushing their news and trying to sell me their newsletter at the same time just more spam and we got enough of that already
That section should be titled "paid advertising ! "
