I have set up a trading simulator for June - 1st prize is $100, 2nd and 3rd prizes are trading books.
If you already played in May's competition, you already have an account and your can just continue trading, your portfolio has been set to $100,000.
If you are new to the simulator, you can join at anytime up to June 23. You must use the same username as you use here. This thread will be used to discuss the game and post updates on the standings.
You start with $100,000 and you can trade stocks, options and you can even short. Whoever has the highest amount at the close of trading on June 30, 2006 wins.
The trading simulator/contest is open only to registered members of this forum.
Send me a private message (http://www.cramersmadmoney.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=1) and I will send you the link for your free sign up.

I put in a sell at market before the market closed. Now it's closed and they order is stuck there and will probably sell at the open tomorrow. I can't see where to cancel this. Is there a way to cancel this order? Or am I just stuck with it? No big deal. I learned I need to put a "day" order now.

nevermind... they sold. They must have sold at the closing price.

I can't reproduce the problem - is anyone still unable to trade? It must have been temporary.

Well, I don't know what happened, but it really is realistic, isn't it? Happens with regular brokers.
At least you know everyone was affected, not just you, so it is a level playing field.

That's from the options trading.. its a bit unrealistic in my opinion...
I actually suggested to Thierry that we eliminate options for next month, or have two seperate contests... one for options trading and one for stocks
They're apples and oranges.
I'd prefer to have it set up so you could just go long and short stocks...
but, for now, I'll try to win, using options.

Bman409, i am serious about your recommendations for reading on options. I think all is fair in war, and seeing what you have done in the simulator with them, more power to you. You've also had some nice plays in the metals (piggy backed one of your tie moves!) Bigdawg been killing us with CUP, so i know that its possible to put up big numbers even with beat up stocks. Nathan, great call on ANDE yesterday, so i guess we are dancing for 3rd. Just my ramblings sorry.. hey i got short GOOG for 390... thats such a trader's dream stock! Where else can you move 80k on 200 shares with that kinda volitility?

Valid orders are not being filled on Investopedia's Trading Simulator.
I placed a limit order on 06/10 to be filled on 06/12 but it did not execute.
The order was for 13500 shares of ANAD , limit $7.35.
The stock opened Monday at $7.29, had an intraday high of $7.35, a low of $6.52, and closed Monday afternoon at $6.53.
Order history for the portfolio says trade failed because portfolio could not be found. I don't have any problem logging in to check the account , so what's the problem ?

That's about an assinine statement as ever I heard !
Just because everyone was affected, does not justify the screw up, get real Man !

Thing is, as far as i know, Thierry just runs these boards, and has nothing to do with running the simulator. I could be wrong, but i know i found investopedia's simulator before i had ever heard of Cramer. I think the folks over there do a good job of SIMULATING the markets. It has quirks, but I think it really is the best out there (all for free!?!?). It is, however not the real deal, and i think has a bias against day trading. Just my two cents, because i think Thierry does a great job with this board, and that is different than the simulator.

I just checked and you are logging into the wrong account - your username is MoMoney4Me1 and you've haven't placed any trades in that account. The only screw up seems to be you.

I lease a paying version of the Investopedia software, which has more features and options than the free version. It isn't perfect, but it does a pretty good job most of the time. The developer works there and is constantly tweaking it.
Thanks for your comments!

You sir are incorrect, the MoMoney4me1 account is the one I am precisely referring to. It shows the facts in the account trade history just as I have previously stated.
It's no big deal, it would be a money losing trade at this point anyway. I'm merely pointing to the fact that valid trades are not going through !
I appreciate the fact that your forum here is generally well managed and I thank you for the fine work you do here. In no way do I mean to imply any animosity to you or disrespect.
But the fact is if you check, I placed an order that was not filled Monday morning in that account that should have been.
So once again I think you should check your facts, and you'll see I'm not screwed up, Investopedia is !

In answer to your question Thierry, yes !
If you look at the attachment above you will see it shows clearly that I am logged in as MoMoney4Me1 in the competition "CramersMadMoney June Simulation"
The trade history shows the order entered last weekend that should have executed on Monday morning. The limit price I entered was within the intraday range.
That is the only order I have placed this month, hence you are correct that no trades have been placed in the account, but that one should have executed on Monday morning.
Again I assert that the order was for 13500 shares of ANAD , limit $7.35.
The stock opened Monday at $7.29, had an intraday high of $7.35, a low of $6.52, and closed Monday afternoon at $6.53.

And Thank You Thierry for your interest and attention to this minor glitch!
In no way do I think it reflects on the fine job you do in managing this forum. I enjoy reading the daily posts here and interacting with the other members.
It's the most civil and well managed forum I've hade the advantage of participating in online. I use Techstocks.com, Yahoo, and others, but always look forward to checking in here every day.

Do be do be do.....I told myself, "Self, don't mess with the Q's this month with this crazy volatilty"...what did I do, after I got bored with the homebuilders.....I had to go and buy calls for the Q's.
Funny to me, because I went from 2nd my 2nd day to now almost last, I am just glad I knew better than to do it with my real $$$ lol.
Anyone else try something that they knew was probably a bad idea?

I think you have to have a certain volume before your order is executed - it looks to me that you may have ordered more than 20% of the shares that traded at the price you called.
Go to the meny "failed trades" and look what it says there.

Yeah Hanger, i'm trying all kinds of contrarian plays with the paper. Spent all last week's mini rally mired in small cap speculative biopharm because of good TA. We still have a lot of time, so don't give up, and just try crazier stuff. I sure hope cash people don't win.. that would be cheap (but fair) I was considering sitting cash the rest of the way and hoping for 2nd or 3rd, but i think i will just go long HANS lmao!
