Are we scoring on pure hotness?

Or do factors such as matching the mood of the market come into play?

The cheesecake is fine (although it may offend some) but no genitals please.

Users have the option of "ignore" if they don't like the avatars of a particular user.

I don't think there is anything obscene about people in bathing suits.

Visitors who are not registered here do not have the option of "ignore" so out of respect for them and for the overall image of the forum let's all make this place look good.

Cramer's show attracts a lot of childen because of his shenanigans on the air, so young people visit here more than you think.

And I often work on the forum on my portable, with my 7 year old and my 2 year old jumping on my lap, and I imagine there are others in the same situation.

Tekbubble, the images you use that I have seen are fine, although they change so fast I am sure there are some I haven't seen. Who knows what goes on while I sleep.

Actually, the only complaints I have ever received about an image on this forum concerned a gigantic butt avatar that is no longer being shown, there were about 50 complaints about that one.

I would argue that the chart of the market for the last month is the most obscene thing one could look at.

I have to say it. Having a margin account really worked out for me. The chart is ugly if you were long, but I shorted everything.

I'm up 39% since the beginning of May. It was by far my best month of trading since I started in February.

God, don't you wish our avatars, Tekbubble, were our girlfriends? I wouldn't mind trading off sometimes either.

I don't even know how I did it, but I traded about 20 times in & out and only lost once. I think it has to do with watching the USD, and going with my gut. I would have bought ardi today if I could of because it was upgraded to a buy on a good day. My gut is telling it's about time to short GM, but I'm hoping it stays high until Monday.

NATHAN LLOYD
05-25-2006, 01:49 PM
I learned that oil going up pushes the USD down, which pushes gold prices up. I've watched these indicaters a whole lot. When a stock starts to get close to it's high at close, there's a good chance for a gap up. I take it as soon as opening around 9:40. I've also read the news coming out in the morning to see wich way the indicators are pointing.

I shorted two gold stocks yesterday GG and EZM, instead of one. I had one day trade left allowed. I closed one and had to hold the other overnight. I'm mad at myself for that mistake. Also, since I felt the prices turning on me, I should have bought another gold stock like NXG before closing myself out of being able to trade. I made a mental note of those two mistakes yesterday, so I can learn from them. The indicators in this morning's news were all buy. I locked myself out of day trading until Monday, so I can't buy. That's the hardest thing for me to learn is to only make 3 day trades a week.

Another thing I learned to do is to lock in gains quickly, and that is why I have a hard time with the day trading rule. If you take your gains quickly. That is how often you can compound your interst earned. I also have traded real quick when I made a gain only to see that I could have doubled that gain if I held on a while. There's a fine line between taking gains to quick, or letting yourself loose the gains you made. Still there is no way to lose if you lock in gains quickly.

Also, I've learned to allow a swing of 2 to 3 % in wrong direction if I feel nothing has changed the reason why I started the trade. Finally, I got a margin account where I can buy twice what my portfolio is worth, and I can short. If not for this, I wouldn't have made a 39% gain this month. I put all my money in my convictions plus my margin. A 3% gain in the stock I'm in is a 6% gain in my portfolio.

I'm 32. I did study some. I read Short-Term Trading in the New Stock Market, Rule the Freakin' Markets, and I'm working on Sane Investing in an Insane World. I believe they're the best of bread for learning the markets. Oh yeah, I locked myself out until Tuesday. Maybe the oil prices are a result of the upcoming driving Memorial weekend.

so is that all you read to become this knowledgable?

I'm 18 i'm almost done with, toni turners, intro to daytrading online, and will begin to read her other 2, short term trading in the market, and the short term trading in the NEW stock market...dont quote me on the titles, i have em but have been too busy to even look at em, ive been investing since FEB and am currently down after this pullback/correction, but i would like to become more knowledgable about when to pull the trigger at what times, like understanding the economy more, i know alot more now than ever but i still have a LONG way to go....any suggestions?

I'm not that knowledgeable. I've only been trading since February. I think I have a natural intuition for stocks. I did make A's in accounting and economics in college. However, it will take a few more good months to feel confident that the past month wasn't just luck.

I've recommended this to others in similar situations. You said you're 18 but from previous posts I can only assume you are not in college yet. Go to Amazon or a similar site and pick up an obsolete edition of any Macoreconomics text book. Next year, or even this summer if you wish, take Macroeconomics. You should already understand the basic laws of supply and demand but this will clear a lot of this Fed-speak up for you that so much of the American markets are dictated by.

Look in to micro econ as well and you and apply those principals to macro perspectives as well as individual companies (but Macro is more important). This should help you immensely. If you like what you learn there do what I did and major in Econ. They'll get in to a whole lot of cost functions, graphing, and a lot of other disciplne specific practices and info that will only bore the readers of this site but the underlying principles are applicable to the markets, companies, and being immersed in that environment only keeps the investing gears churning.

My luck ran out on me. All 4 of my trades today went the wrong way. So much for being a natural trader. I just want to throw my chair at the wall!

You do need macro-economics. You shure don't get any help with buying power. I shorted WMT today, and there have been 15 million shares traded today. Talking about making me feel puny. The individual traders don't even count for a pebble in the road compared to that.

NATHAN LLOYD

J/K Thierry. Maybe you can rig a section where x-rated avatars apply but will switch to an alternate at other sections. After clicking the link the poster must also agree they are 18 yrs of age or older. I'd like to see the avatars then.

X-rated anything on this forum and it will cease to be - no advertising, no joining without proof of age, it's not going to happen. I didn't start this site to showcase erotic photographs.

The problem with these kind of pictures is that you have to keep getting wilder and wilder in order to get the jolt, and this is starting to go over the line.

You guys are all free to send each other whatever images you like, but there is no need to display this to the general public.
