Grocer stocks rose Tuesday following an uptick in consumer confidence and a drop in oil prices. Shares of Safeway Stores Inc. and Kroger Co. rose more than 3 percent. SuperValu Inc., which last week cut its 2009 guidance because of weak consumer spending and soaring energy costs, fell 6 percent in midday trading.
