I got on for about 5 minutes worth of trading time and haven't been able to access my homepage or anything since then. Wanted to cancel an order but I can't get into my stuff.....aggravated and mad as hell.

I was about to post the exact same thing about my experience this morning but nah. Can't blame them though...its more on the server side than them unless they host their own site.

When it goes down, call your branch....all orders are at the internet rate. Sucks though, because you lose monitoring ability. Cost me at least $700 this a.m.

Took me forever just to get logged in this mornig  Then, once I finally got in, it took forever to get the streaming quotes to come up

I was wondering if I was the only one having problems. Guess not. They need to upgrade the servers or something. This could lose them major money if people get mad and switch to another online broker.

This happened to me last week as well, again today. everybody call your local branch and complain. Customer service is pretty good for ST, so just let 'em know their server sucks and they'll fix it in due time, I hope.

Sucks, but hey I made an extra 10 bucks, while trying to sell GTCB...

They should give us free trades every time their server goes down. I don't know about anybody else but I pop in and out of ST 5-10 times a day to check my stocks. I haven't gained or lost any money yet due to the server problem.

It's awful. The streamer disconnects constantly for me. I finally gave up last week and now just use my Ameritrade streamer to monitor the market.

same here...the streaming quotes used to lock up all the time. I watch the price moves on prophet now...it's only locked up once or twice. I just use scottrade to make the trades...the heck with the rest of the bells and whistles.

Hmm I have the same problem everyday and I give them feedback on their site. I almost opened an account with TD Waterhouse. Maybe I should go over to them. I have a co-worker who loves trading with them. Roger better get his companies site together because I read one thread that said they lost $700. That would piss me off also.

I sent them an email yesterday and they sent me the default "We're sorry, we're working on it" reply.

I sent them another one today saying I was leaving if it wasn't fixed soon. I also told them their customer service was not that good and they should make it worth it for me to stay... like free trades or something. If they send me the default reply again, I think I'll pack my bags and move.

What's a cheaper alternative to ST that still offers streaming quotes, interactive charts, alerts and all that jazz?

I too am getting tired of the streaming quotes freezing on me in the middle of the day. It'll be moving right along w/ all kinds of activity then everything stops like it's 4 o'clock, 'cept my clock says 1:30pm. Quite frustrating.

Damn Streaming Quotes effin' up on me again. I've restarted the s.o.b. 6 times already today and you can see what time it is. Who do I call to express my displeasure? Local branch, what?

I changed to Interactive Brokers. I can't trade because I used up my 4 trades in one day. Can't do more than 3 day trades a week. I hated Scottrade with a passion. I had the same problem when I used them. You can't get their quotes to work because of a server. IMO, leave them because they're charging way too much commission to not have a good server!!!

Anyone else experiencing delays today? Other news/press sites are working fine so I don't think it's my server but scottrade is slow when switching from watchlist to watchlist. I haven't even tried to open the streaming quotes, I'm too scared if it's acting this nutty this soon.

 Sad but true. There's a chance this market could turn on a dime pending the oil inventory data and if you can't trade on that i don't know what good this platform is.

Does Scottrade compensate for effing up customers' portfolios?

Streaming quotes ain't streaming here!

I haven't tried an order yet, I may sell some SLW into today's strength, so we'll see how that goes:)

Can't place orders AND one of my stop prices changed. I had a stop on FCX at 60.00 even. Today it showed 59.69 and I can't change it back. Fortunately FCX is going up at the moment and it's only a 8 dollar difference if it were to complete. But still. ARGHH!

This may be the wrong place to ask this simply b/c I assume all the posters i here have Scottrade. But, I'm thinking about switching. Does anyone have experience with IB -- Interactive Brokers I believe?

I know they have cheap trades but are all the tools that Scottrade has available such as streaming quotes, live charts (1 minute, 5 minute, etc), researching like interactive charts where you can plot tend lines yadda yadda. If there is no discernable difference I'll switch because this is BS. I missed being able to dump one of my positions today b/c Sottrade was effing up. I know I'll get that price again but it would be nice to free up the cash in the meantime and not have to watch that stock go red for the day.

check their website. I'm concerned with the $99 platform fee per month if you do not hit the required # of shares traded. I'm not sold on IB, but still looking.

Scottrade is supposed to have their e-finance back up this summer with a checking account option. That will suit me as I trade for additional income and need flexibility to pull funds for additional investment opportunities. Other than the occasional server issue, Scottrade has been good. Luckily I have a local office with good folks who will quickly process an order....but I have lost money because of server issues. I may open an E trade account as a backup.......we'll see.

Anyone else having trouble placing orders?

I placed a sell earlier today, got the confirmation # screen and everything. I assumed it went through and while watching the ticker noticed my stock reached that level. I go back to check my account and I still have the shares. I then look at the open orders section, and yep, you gessed it, nothing! So I place the order again, get the confirmation screen and again nothing.

Earlier today it was at least telling me the trades were unavailable, now it's just flat out jerking me around. Anyone else experience this vanishing order phenomenon?

Scottrade aggravated the shet out of me. IB has never stalled on me once. It seems like a much better program with more options and it has a much smoother server to work with. My only problem is your limitted to 3 day trades a week. Otherwise, this is 10X's better, and it's so much cheaper for commission.

This doesn't seem to be the problem anymore, It's always worked fine for me and is singlehandedly one of the best platforms out there.
