I am going to list up marl picks and stock picker rt picks everyday and compare to see what is better.
stock picker picks more than one stock a day.
I should have it in the mail sometime this week. Should be tomarrow.

I really don't think we need another stockpicking thread or comparison?!!!!
Thierry you may want to start a whole new Forum for this crap.

Maybe a forum section for these tout sheets, and a separate section for actual trading systems and technical info.

Yes, I was thinking of the same thing. Trying to figure out how to separate these threads, the forum is getting murky, and nasty to boot!

I hadn't noticed, but you may be more sensitive to that than I am. To me it is always cheery here and the air is cool and crisp with a hint of fresh Lychee.

These were stock picker rt picks for today. The guy who runs the site sent me them after the market closed today. I just asked him today for the picks since I bought the program. I asked for tomarrows picks before the market opens or while it is open. Should have my copy tomarrow. This program tells you when to sell and when to stop loss. Marl just does a scan and gives you a symbal.

Having Lychee for desert, maybe that will help. The air is always cheery for you because you don't have to wade through the stuff I do, that doesn't make it online.

In my view, the objective for the OTF here should be to separate "challenges" and other fairly transparent attempts to promote a 'pay-me' site from folks who are, in all honesty and innocence, trying to come up with an investment strategy.
To that end, I would recommend:
All 'contest' threads should be moderated.
'Picks' and performance data should be both normalized and validated.
Very strict anti-bashing rules should be enforced in a contest thread. These rules should be far more restrictive than those in effect for normal posting.
I think a Dragnet "just the facts, ma'am" approach is the only way to go.
If we let folks spin the picks or results, we're just back in the mosh pit.

I bought Stock Signal Pro from http://www.investing-systems.com/ and they want me to pay $19.99 a month for the scanner/intra day charts. So I have to pick my own stocks to watch with their software.
I enterd all your picks into Stock Signal Pro with Feb 7th Data and none of the picks are showing Buy Signals:dong:
It just makes me wonder why the stock picker RT picks dont even work with their own companion software.
Now I have lost any trust I could have had with my software.
It looks to me like alot of your picks would have done well today feb 8.
Do you have to pay a monthly fee??

The last three posts illustrate, in my mind, why threads on this subject should be moderated.
That's the data analyst in me coming out.
Somehow, I really want to validate the data.
Seems like you can't tell whacha got if you don't
And, no, the assertions of an individual poster do not constitute 'validation'.
Point is, evaluation of stock-picking services can be standardized.
Thierry, you want me to moderate a forum like that, I will. To quote a recent poster on another subject, "I got no dog in the fight." I'd love to find a service that actually worked.

Please pardon the cynical comment. I'm just noting that having the Sell or Stop Loss points before you buy is more helpful then stating them afterwards.

OK, I broke down and bought SPRT and my first scan was this morning about 10-10:30Am per their instructions. Most of the stock picks opend alot higher than they closed yesterday due to earnings reports but if you had enterd a position around 10:30am or when volume started picking up then most of them had gains 1% to 4+%.
I woud be very interested to see if Jas1N gets the same picks that I get with a 10:30am scan.Or If differant people get differant picks.
Here were Wednesday's Picks for me. I saved all picks in a Watch List around 10:30AM and paper traded 100 shares each pick.

Today all of the picks are up and most have already hit their targets. Do we have any knowledge about the filters SPRT uses. Thanks

So, when you say the stock picks are gapped up, does sprt give those picks the day before? I mean there is really no point in buying once the picks are already gapped up, right?

No you are suppose to scan between 10:00Am and 10:30 am after the morning rush settles down.Alot gap up some and then back down around 10-11am.Some of the gap up and keep going.
Look at the 3-5 Day charts for the below Friday March 1st Picks

Do you guys that are using the program pick a few of the trades or do them all? This program so far looks like a major day trading type of software. I was just looking for more thoughts on it. I have just been watching the picks so far. Some days you might get 10-12 picks and days like Friday I only got 4 picks with not much gains during the day but gains none the less.Seems to me if you have enough cash to trade them all you would come out ahead every day so far.
Also I said I noticed alot of the stocks seem to gap up at open but relized that is because of After/Pre Hours trading.
A few picks from Friday were:
CIEN, WAVE, UBA, OMRA

Seems to me if you have enough cash to trade them all you would come out ahead every day so far.
What kind of cash are we talking about to be pulling in good profits everyday with this system? thousands? curious. looking into this.

Question to SPRT users/owners:
What are the predefined filters employed with the SPRT scan? Or is it a raw scan as in the system giving out daily picks based on previous day volume, etc.?
Some screen shots would be nice :santaclaus:

The manual says the software scans the stocks but I think the Investing Systems website actually sends the picks.
See http://www.investing-systems.com/ (http://affiliates.investingsystems.com/id/21_2_tlid_11) for screenshots and info on the software.

Here's some info from the manual:
Scanning Parameters
StockPickerRT is designed to pick stocks for day trading or short-term trading, based on both technical and fundamental indicators. It will display stocks that have an excellent chance of making a near-term gain. Not every stock displayed is expected to go up so the use of stop-loss orders is strongly advised. (Please see the Help section on Stop Loss orders).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To come up with stock selections, the program automatically scans for companies with superior fundamental or technical characteristics, such as revenue and earnings growth, or stocks that are demonstrating unusual momentum or volume. The stocks are filtered by minimum and maximum price and Volume. The user can define several filters to the picks at any time, but a stock must meet all the current criteria and user filters to appear on list. If a stock no longer passes all of the filters, it will drop from the list on the next scan. The Settings screen is used to sort stocks by price and volume, and to set how wide the Scan is. Scan Level 4 is wide-open and Scan Level 1 is the narrowest.

[quote=Wondering;95721]I just got my SPrt last week and have been watching the daily picks and am very impressed so far.I still dont understand that 95% of the daily picks seem to gap up at open like there was some kind of news, etc.
The best deal I have found so far is ordering thru the below link. $279 for a year and no price increase for the following years.
http://www.investing-systems.com/ (http://affiliates.investingsystems.com/id/21_2_tlid_11)
One thing I've observed by following these picks on the posts is that there are large jumps the day before and they pull back later that day or the next day and most of them continue on a down trend.
It really makes you think what SPrt really knows. Really think about it. If they have thousands of people using this software buying on the picks that their software can spit out of course the stock is going to go up if you have thousands of people pumping money into the stock. Hence the name "momentum trading". The more people that buy into the stock it will increase the demand and therefore the prices will rise. What I find interesting is that why does the stock go up before the market opens on most of these? Are they manipulating the stock? Lets say they know what stocks they are going to pick the day before and then they give it to you the next day in the scan after they have bought shares the previous day. Or perhaps they buy into the stocks during pre-market hours giving it the momentum need send out the stock picks for the day. Then everyone rushes in to buy in the morning causing the "momentum" of the stock. Then later that day or the next they short the hell out of and drive the stock price down. Most of the picks have pulled back if you go back and look at them. Who really knows how many people are using this software and buying off the scans then shorting the stocks later that day. I am sure that's how most of these stock picker programs operate. Find the one that has the most people using their picks and you'll probable find higher percentage gains. Think about this....most stocks usually go up when the big institutions buy into these stocks. The stock pricker programs are tying to create their own institutions to create the momentum. However, I am not against this method by all means. If it works it works! That really all that matters in my book.
My other question to you guys that are using this software can you select the market cap and avg daily volume? The market cap and volume is way to low for me. Since we are small investors and can't control the stock I would rather be where there is high volume and market cap. It's easier for 1 large investor to control one with low volume and market cap, than it is with higher volume and large market cap. Plus there is more liquidity. However, I am sure that they recommend sticking with low volume and low market caps.

just2trade isn't that good. their clearing firm always has problems updating your holdings. i had to tell them a few time how much shares i had and what price i bought them at. just2trade is still in its developement stage and they have glitches that they need to work out. izone.com is the best from my perspective, they got trade triggers which allows me to have over 15 stocks

I already feel like a pest so my sincere thanks (Tonkatoy & Wondering) for answering all my inquiries. After reading extensively on Marl the Robot Stock Picker, I must admit I have lost ALL trust in the idea of stock picker software, including SPRT.
At this point in time I am running under a null hypothesis that the SPRT is not a scam ("pump/dump scheme") and literally looking for evidence to prove otherwise.

There are really only 2 settings you can change in SPRT. The first is the Min/Max share price and the second is the Min/Max Average Volume. You can adjust the Min/Max Average Volume from 50,000 to 20,000,000 and the Share price from $0 to the sky is the limit.
Other than that there is really nothing you can control.

the stock picks change during the day and they pick alot of stocks. I dont see how they can pump and dump all of those stocks
I received this software recently and will report on any luck I have with it. My opinion from my first look:
A. Software does not do any analysis on your system.
B. Software pulls information from remote site pre-analyzed.
C. Does not appear to be pump and dump as a large number of stocks cycle through and today, most of them didn't do very well overall. (My opinion). However, I have seen many days in a row that are impressive.
D. Looking at several of the stocks there is often news bits related that were released very recently or they may have some interesting technical indicators that make them look attractive. Some I have no clue why they pop up. (If you want to see a nifty TA site look at www.stockconsultant.com (http://www.stockconsultant.com)).
E. The statement on their website about "If you'd like to know:" things like what price to pay, when to sell, and how to reduce your risk... Well I was rather underwhelmed by that portion, I haven't figured out what determines the what price to pay, the when to sell and amount of risk are based on variables that you enter into the configuration. (You could do the same with a spreadsheet, I do), and how to compound your portfolio? No clue what that is referencing.
If you read the small amount of web based documentation available for this product, there is decent information in there. One of the primary concepts of the author is not buying when large gaps occur at the opening and they include ideas of how or where you might try getting in after ensuring a trend is occuring. Speaking of trends, this product is intended primarliy for people going long from what I have seen so far. Anyways, thanks for sharing what you guys have shared so far, maybe I can make some worthwhile contributions.
One last thing, It looks like at least one poster here has put affiliate codes into a link for this thing, so be careful what your clicking on if you aren't aware.

Super tricky day today:
- SPRT was whacked during the first 3-4 hours of the trade today (ticker and associated price was rather dissociated :?); the work-around solution was rather obvious: corrected the price filter to $200 in order to list all the stocks trading at lower values while mislabeled with higher values (I was using $25 for max price);
- managed to put money into the following stocks around 09:50:
a. DPTI (came out +$0.01 after it looked like it was DUMPED);
b. TRR (came out +$47.00 again after it looked like it was being ferociously DUMPED but somehow re-gained momentum);
- not a good market today with all the inflationary/inflammatory hype that came out around 13:00; however, I managed to came out on the positive even though yesterday I lost approx. +$140 on ATHN which I bought on Friday only to be forced to sell when I realized that it looked pretty funny (this is one is on me since I ignored the the +4% gap-up at opening, which in this case, made me throw money in the gap 8)).
I will be the first one to admit that I have yet to understand the inner works of momentum trade. What I'm finding extremely difficult as far as SPRT is when to pull the trigger and buy: early minutes of the opening after ruling out the gap-up (which so far cost me approx. +$140) and take advantage of the momentum it had built the previous trade day or wait and then shoot.
Presuming that one has access to a significant amount of capital in their trading account, I can see how SPRT can turn over serious ROI.
Cheers :santaclaus:
Yeah, this morning when I saw the market coming out towards the downside and then the application was all messed up with those crazy prices, I just decided to stay out of the market. Then I got to sit there and watch my Pulte Homes stop out while the stock tanked. All in all not a pretty day for me, but not terribly ugly.
I saw that NUAN stock this morning and watched it rocket up and then retrace almost all the way back down again. It regained steam just under $18 and could have been a nice 60 cent winner, but work had me too distracted so by the time I noticed it, all the opportunity was gone.
Most of the stocks it seemed to be showing today were very low volume and most of them seemed to become losers after they popped up. It has been interesting to see what comes across the screen.
On a slightly different topic, a friend of mine took some Investtools classes and we were looking over the website. One section in there that is really nice are the recorded Webex sessions that experienced traders give to a class (You can sign into them live when they happen or watch them later). It is really awesome watching them go throught some stocks discussing the why's, hows and whats. Being able to watch a webex from a few days back and then go look at what the stock did compared to way the instructor predicted is an interesting thing also. Definetely a good website for listening to experienced traders instruct you on how and why they would do things. I am just happy I didn't have to pay for the classes... Not cheap at all.
xxOz
Well, today for me was another not pretty day. SPRT didn't help ouch much, it seemed like all the stocks it was recommending had already run out of most of their steam today.
I also look at their market toolbox website from teh same company and bought in on SOLF this morning. I followed my plan and waited for the stock to bottom out from its gap up this morning. I then got in around 10:20 with a 100 shares at 15.55. The stock ran up to around 15.90 on the Ask side.
Unfortunately, my first profit taking order was at 15.93. I then watched the stock retrace and come back up, but it didn't hit the same highs. At that point I was debating if I needed to reconsider my plan... I seem to have a problem of not taking profits... Unfortunately, at that time, my boss also wanted me to come help him with some stuff, so I wandered off to do my job. I had a stop limit set and fortunately on that massive ride down, I did not get stopped out. I ended up getting out of the stock at 15.56 around 11:45. Covered my commisions and let me stop holding my breath. Phew.
When I am buying thousand shares I figure I will sell 300 at 2.5%, then 300 at 5% and close out at 7% or higher. I also vary my stop limit between 1.5% down and 3% down. Should I instead be looking at taking out profits on dollar amounts instead of percents? I could have peeled out of this stock with a several hundred dollar profit if I had started selling at up .15, up .30, up .60. What kinds of plans do you follow?

I've got the software and maybe I should pay attention to it, I got in at $15.69 and rode is all the way down, and still have it. I have to be smarter, rather then hold 1 thousand shares overnight, and hoping it gaps up in the morning.... I'm an idiot sometimes and make novice mistakes.

SPRT this morning spat out about 6 to 8 stocks (scan filters: $0-25, min avg. vol At 200k) of which after quick inspection I had picked ACGY & NTRI.
*** SIDE NOTE: Instead of putting money into those stocks I was also watching V (visa) and decided to go for 250 shares of V; should have sold V at it's only rebound point ($67.00) but I guess greed (I've only been trading for the past 2 weeks and with a goal of $200-250 per trading day) and sheer stupidity (I, once again and perhaps out of greed, ignored the 5 day trend 8), not cool).
***
However, I had initially picked out the two SPRT stocks and figured that they were both gapped-up (very close to 3%) but they had a good trend (6mo-5day) and decided that I would wait for a bottom closeer to opening/closing average; suffice to say they both did well BUT I had to go with V.
One last thing, SPRT has been working so far but again counting out my occasional greed and sheer stupidity (I mean every single time it's in my face and somehow I think that it will turn out different, up that is :withstupid:).
Have a good night and I hope you have enough energy to stay positive after a day like today :santaclaus:
PS. Hanged on to my 250 V shares with the hope that will manage to go out with a loss that will only wipe out the little gains yielded so far by the SPRT picked stocks; darn!
PPS. I am going to list my invested picks tomorrow.

BEXP ADI SCSC AMR EVVV CPKI POZN
My pick would be BEXP (@$10.65-10.75), ADI (@$30.00-$30.20), CPKI (@$15.20-15.30) ... for now but they ALL have to bottom to at least opening before I'd buy into it.
Cheers!
PS. Managed to sell V at -$10 :p
Very similar to what showed up on my SPRT this morning also (I have it up to $45). Some decent things to pick from on SPRT today.
I ended up hoping into AMR for a little ride. Didn't hit it out of the park, but I had different expectations and a modified plan today. Watched it drop from open and got confirmation of the up trend at 10:03. At 9:00 I was thinking I should put in a buy stop for 9.53, but I was not moving very fast so I was a little late. I then wasted time with limit orders and chased it all the way up to 9.63 before I got in (Wish I just had a button I could click that would put in a buy limit order at 1 cent above current price). Rode the stock up through some resistance at 9.68 and sold 50% of my lot at 9.81. Rode the stock back down to 9.56 and then back up to a small flat spot where I closed at my position at 9.68. I was watching a 1 minute Candle chart.
Hindsight shows I could have hung on into the high .70s but I didn't want to turn a winner into a loser. I was a little surprised at the resistance at $9.80 as I thought we would not see it until almost $10. I also know that I need to get my orders in faster as I lost .10 just trying to type and enter the order on a web page. More learning accomplished today and SPRT has now paid for $100 of itself. Now I just can't do another day trade until the 4/14... Guess I will need to look at some longer term stocks for a few days.

Well, we are short 2 guys at work right now, so I didn't play around much today. JASO was on the SPRT and would have been an awesome buy. I just didn't have time to manage my positions, so I lost out... :frown:
However, I was researching a 2 week trade this weekend and got in at an okay price. Now I have to see if my plan works out on that one. The post is in another section where I asked if anyone had opnions on my TA of DECK.
All of the free stocks they post on their website were down for the day. I think CVTX is a decent day trade if you watch the price action and do not mind a .10-.20 profit trade.

Any new news on Stock Picker RT?
I think I am going to give it a try......
Although SPRT comes up with many picks each day I am having trouble finding an entry point for the picks. Alot of the picks when the market opens or for the first hour of trading I am finding it might be better to short the picks that have a gap up on open as they always seem to pullback some. I still like the program but like all stocks there is just no guarentee but I would still recommend this program for possible trades.
