Many companies state that they will report earnings after hours at 5PM, yet at around 4:30 there will be articles out stating their earnings, guidance, etc. I have seen this with many stocks, including SYNA just today. Shareholder.com began the conference call at 5PM, yet Yahoo! Finance already had an article from a half hour earlier with the report.
How does this make sense?

I believe some companies will release their figures preceding the actual conference call. For example, AAPL earlier this week.
