OnlineTradersForum.com Stock Picking Challenge

Pick the highest percentage mover and your win will be recorded next to your name in the forum.

Choose any stock that trades in the US market that closed at $2.00 or over with at least 100,000 share volume as of the Friday close before the contest starts on Monday.

Your entry price will be the market open price on Monday.

A brief rationale for your pick makes the contest more fun.

This week we are awarding a prize for first place - the winner gets a trading course DVD - "Classic Indicators - Back To The Future" by Linda Raschke. The DVD will be mailed out to the winner on the Monday following the win. Good luck!

In one post on the previous weeks contest it was said"

"Golfdock - you would be better off shorting FAS as opposed to being long FAZ.
Okrobie - you will do better shorting UYM as opposed to being long SMN
Madcow - is all over this - he's short ERX instead of being long ERY..........

these are the exact same trades.... if someone would've shorted ERX while I was long ERY - I would've lost easily, hands down. But, we both would've had the same "basic" trade. I infer that this goes against the nature of this contest. This is my personal opinion."

Of the 27 weeks of the contest Y.T.D., 7 of them have been won by ultra ETF's, but of those, only 2 of the wins were shorts. In fact, one of the wins, (we won't mention any names), was for in excess of 100%, while the person that took the same ETF short, lost over 100%!!

The challenge is just that, a challenge, and has been running with the same basic rules for almost 3 years now. I see no need to vary the rules at this point and eliminate ultra ETF's, as they really provide the volatility that can make the game exciting at times.

WFC short.

Of course if it breaks below 22, others will win on short double or triple ETFs, but this is more wishful thinking for me.

Sorry richmondsatellite, CIT closed on Friday below $2. We'll leave it in just to watch.

I would like to point out that I selected WFC short, I believe you have it as long. Although it has gained about 3% like I knew it would. When WFC goes below $22.00 for a week, the market will tank.

Just preparing anyone that cares to challenge the viability of ERX as an option in the wekly challenge for the possibility of a big move Friday.

ERX should give 3Xs the return of crude, however, there has been some divergence b/t the stock and the commodity this week - most notably on Wednesday when .CL was down 2.5% but ERX was nearly flat.

Ironically, USO & OIL are down roughly 5% in the past 3 days, DXO is down ~6%, but ERX is only down 4%. One has to think this thing is going to correct itself at some point.
